Wow has the last 6 weeks flew by. I am currently back home in Aurora, CO.
The trip is finished and it was amazing. My team and I worked outside of Panama City, Panama at a YWAM (youth with a mission) base there. I had the opportunity to teach 4th grade during my time there. I originally took this ministry placement because no one else on my team wanted to, but knowing how God works, I fell in love with 13 students. It was not always the easiest. Some days I had little voice. Other days a headache. And other days never wanted to leave.
My team helped a lot around the YWAM base with whatever the needed, such as cooking, cleaning, working with the chickens and bunnies and whatever other random thing needed tending. A ministry we got to do a couple of times was to go to a casino and talk with prostitutes there. (Prostitution is actually legal in Panama). It was a weird dynamic, but good at the same time.
We had the opportunity to see the city, the beach and the jungle. One weekend we took a 2 hour boat ride down a river to an indigenous tribe. It was definitely a humbling experience.
It was hard to say goodbye to my team. It was not always the easiest being the leader, but seeing all 7 team members grow in their relationship with God made it all worth it. And I do feel quite accomplished getting the team from El Salvador, through 5 countries, to Panama and back home to Atlanta.
Sorry I didn’t update more. I cleaned my computer, lost my password and limited internet to search for it. But now I am home, I do have more time to write. Can’t wait to see you all soon.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support during this time.
