From the pen of Pastor Barb Lemke
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God, not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we ae what he has made us, created in Christian Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” Ephesians 2:8-10
God’s Work, Our Hands!
Saturday, September 5th – Sunday, September 13th 2015
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I know what you are thinking. “Isn’t this an August newsletter? Why is Pastor Barb referring to a September Activity?” Her is the answer to both questions. “Yes! This is an August newsletter!” and “Because God’s Work, Our Hands is important enough that we need to start now!”
The ELCA continues to find ways to help us serve God, by serving others with our hands! We will be bonding together with Lutherans all over the United States to impact our communities by reaching out and helping others. A number of our ministry teams are pulling together to make this event as special as possible. By providing numerous options for both you and me to plug into, all of us can participate in helping touch another in the name of Jesus. We will have options for service spreading over the entire week from Saturday the 5th of September to Rally Sunday, September 13th. If you are young, old or any age in between will find a way for you to serve.
We are not “saved” by our works, but we were created by Jesus for “good works” and we joyously serve because we have been saved. (Good Lutheran theology!) God loves watching his children touch the world with love AND there is nothing better than being an instrument of God! We were blessed to be a blessing.
