From the Pen of Pastor Barb Lemke
“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Every year at this time I am overcome with the quickness of time. January, February, March… October? Where did all of the months go? Where did our lives go? We have all the time in the world to accomplish what Christ has for us to do, and yet, in a moment, all that time has passed.
- We truly believe we have all the time in the world to spend with our children. . . we blink. . . and they are grown. Their childhood has been spent.
- We have all the time in the world to spend with our grandparents or parents. . . we blink. . . and they are gone.
- We have all the time in the world to visit the neighbor next door. . . we blink. . . and they have moved away.
- We have all the time in the world to grow in our relationship with Christ and be all that Christ wants us to be. . . we blink. . . and you know the rest.
What are you putting off in your personal life? Do you really think your parents will always be here? Put it off no longer! Do you really think you have all the time to spend with your children? Well, if you do you may be wrong! Put it off no longer!
Now comes the question. . .What are you putting off in your spiritual life? Before you know it. . . you will blink. . . and the time to grow spiritually will be gone! Put it off no longer! It is time to grow!!! Why grow? Because Christ wants us to. Why study the scriptures in a group? Because, in the words of one of our members, “This is way too cool!” Opportunities at church to connect with the Bible and with one another are all around you. If you don’t know the Bible backwards and forwards then it is time to at least learn a bit. . . don’t you think?
Don’t be putting off till tomorrow the things that are important today. God wants to be blessing you more and more and more, yet we put off the blessing saying we don’t have time.
Let’s be proactive people for Christ in response to Christ’s love and care for us. It is difficult to live out of Bethel’s Vision Statement if we have kept Christ and the scriptures at bay. Take time for Christ. . . Take time for your family. . . take time for the church.
